THE PRACTICAL DETAILS

Privacy & submissions

Your shopping list

My Haul is stored in this browser on this device. We do not upload your list to a server. Clearing your browser data may erase it; use the export feature to keep a copy. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see it.

Creator submissions

When you submit, we store the name, email, contribution and related details you provide in a private editorial queue. Editors use these details to review your work and, when appropriate, discuss publication with you. Submissions do not automatically become public.

Please do not include passport details, payment information, private order numbers or other people’s personal data. There are no file uploads in this version.

Abuse prevention and hosting

Our hosting provider processes technical request information to deliver and protect the site. To limit repeated submissions, we derive an hourly pseudonymous identifier from your network address using a secret key. The private submission store does not retain the raw address. We attempt to remove these abuse-prevention markers after 48 hours; cleanup is best effort and may take longer. Your email is not added to a marketing list by submitting.

Administrator access

The editorial desk uses a necessary, HTTP-only login cookie that expires after 12 hours. It is used only to protect administrator access, not for advertising or visitor tracking. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Login attempts use a short-lived pseudonymous network identifier; expired sessions and attempt markers are removed on a bounded, best-effort basis.

Publication and your rights

You keep ownership of your contribution. Submission allows private editorial review only. Any public display, editing, translation or promotion needs an agreed scope and attribution before publication.

Approved stories may display the agreed byline, contribution, visit date, source link and commercial disclosure. Contact email addresses, internal editorial notes and permission records stay private. Editors retain the original submission separately from drafts and published text.

Corrections or deletion requests

Use the correction option in the contribution form, include your submission receipt and the same contact email, and explain the request. We may need to verify the request before changing or deleting a submission. Editorial submissions are retained while they are being reviewed or discussed; this first version does not promise automatic deletion on a fixed schedule.

External links

Map, source and photographer links take you to external services with their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control those services.
